Last night the Ontario Hockey Leagues Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds beat the Flint Firebirds 6-1 to win the first-round best of seven playoff series 4-1. The OHL’s West Division Champions reach the second round of the postseason for the fourth straight year and await their next opponent.

Boston Bruins prospect Zach Senyshyn got into the action with a second-period goal at the 6:27 mark to give the Greyhounds a 5-1 lead. The first round selection of the B’s had four points in five games (3-1-4) after he tied a career high in regular season points with 65 in 59 games played this season. In 195 career regular season games with the Soo he’s contributed 114-63-177 numbers, and in 31 career playoff appearances, he’s posted 9-11-20 totals.

The 6′-3″ 196-pound Ottawa, Ontario native is eligible and has a chance to join the American Hockey Leagues Providence Bruins as soon as his commitment with his Greyhounds team is finished and assuming the Baby B’s are still involved in this year’s Calder Cup Playoffs. Senyshyn signed a three-year entry-level contract in November of 2015 and could use a solid year in the AHL depending on roster space with the big club in the NHL.
