Ryan Donato is back in Boston, at least for now. The 22-year-old was recalled on Wednesday from the Providence Bruins, B’s General Manager Don Sweeney announced. Donato burst onto the scene last season with nine points in 12 regular season games with the Bruins and appeared in three playoff games. The young forward had struggled immensely in Boston this season and was sent down to Providence about a month ago. Donato had just a single goal in 11 games with the big club.

Donato seemed to turn his game around with the time in Providence as he totaled five goals and four assists in ten games. With the scoring issues the Bruins have encountered, Donato could be the perfect medicine if he has indeed recovered his scoring touch.

Donato, a finalist for the 2018 Hobey Baker Memorial Award, given annually to the top player in college hockey, was originally selected by the Bruins in the second round (56th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. The Scituate, Massachusetts native represented Team USA at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, appearing in five games and leading the team in scoring.

It remains to be seen where Donato will be put in the lineup, but considering his versatility it could honestly be anywhere. With the Bruins looking for consistency in the secondary scoring department, expect Donato to get as many chances to score as he can.
