On Friday morning, the Bruins issued an injury update on Anders Bjork who had missed time in Providence due to a shoulder injury. Bjork underwent successful surgery on his left shoulder which was performed at Massachusetts General Hospital. His expected recovery time is approximately five to six months.

Bjork skated in 20 games for Boston this season, posting a goal and two assists for three points. He also appeared in 13 games for Providence this season, totaling ten points on a goal and nine assists. Unfortunately this is the second shoulder surgery that the 22-year-old has underwent. After appearing in 39 games for Boston and Providence last year, Bjork was shut down for the season after suffering the injury against the Anaheim Ducks in Boston in late January.

The Mequon, Wisconsin native was drafted by the Bruins in the fifth round (146th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He was signed to a three-year entry level contract in May of 2017. His first NHL point came on October 5th, 2017 against the Nashville Predators in Boston. His first career goal came just 12 days later in Arizona against the Coyotes. This is another tough break for the young forward but he should be healthy by the time the 2019-20 season begins.
