Per Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy, Patrice Bergeron will return to the lineup for Monday night’s contest against the Ottawa Senators at the Canadian Tire Centre. Bergeron had previously missed the team’s last seven games with a lower-body injury.

Bergeron, who was already set to accompany the team on the four-game road trip that will begin Monday, was a full participant at Boston’s morning skate, shedding the red non-contact sweater that he had donned over the last few sessions. The 34-year-old had already missed two games with the same lower-body injury in November, and returned for two games before going down again due to the same issue, per Cassidy.

In 21 games this season, Bergeron has eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points to go along with a plus-10 rating. 10 of Bergeron’s 24 points have come on the power play this season, including three of his eight goals.

In his absence, David Krejci filled in as center on the top line. Without Bergeron, the Bruins were able to stay the course, maintaining the second-best record in the NHL (20-4-6) to go along with the best goal-differential in the league at plus-32. The Bruins lead the Atlantic Division with 46 total points, 11 points clear of the second place Florida Panthers.
