Over the past several years I’ve transitioned my attention away from Boston Sports radio and dropped the dial in search of increased Boston Bruins hockey talk. With heavy favoritism to other leagues such as football and baseball, it almost seemed like it was a struggle to talk more than 5-10 minutes about a team and a sport that’s been around the Boston area the second-longest in professional sports history. This is what happens when corporate strings are pulled in my opinion to cater to the individual strengths and popularity. There is, in fact, a rank that sets each sport apart and while I get the business side of this particular topic and who reigns supreme in the New England region, It’s not for me which have made podcast a huge asset to my daily life.
As a diehard Bruins fan, I also subscribe to over 150 other hockey-related podcasts to help me get through my long work week and travel when I’m covering the American Hockey Leagues Providence Bruins when I head south to the state of Rhode Island on the weekends. Not only is this sweet hockey talk entertaining, but it’s also a valuable tool as a credentialed writer and podcaster of two programs myself. Hockey podcasts are a great way of gathering hockey-related information from a league-wide perspective on the go and great discussion points with credit of course on our own weekly BNG programs I’ve added at the bottom of this article.
My top-12 Bruins podcasts rankings are my favorite shows with some being weekly and some more or less on a bye-weekly schedule. For their hard work and Bruins dedication to the pod waves, I wanted to say thanks to everyone on this list below for their time and dedication to the best Boston sport and also wanted to provide avenues so you the reader can find these fantastic programs for yourselves. If you happen to enjoy this list I’ve provided and do in fact subscribe, please give these folks a five-star rating and add some feedback of what you think of their shows. These five-star reviews are very important when others are searching for shows of interest on each worldwide platform. The order of my rankings below is highest to lowest with audio production quality a key factor in my decision making.

The Skate Podcast

WEEI Hosts Ken Laird and Matt Kalman do a fantastic weekly show and insightful bonus skate programs to provide Bruins fans with the hottest topics coming out of locker room media scrums and often the ridiculousness of what’s being said about this NHL club from a social media perspective. This show is starting to gain some serious traction with popular guest appearances from Don Cherry to former players and current hockey media personalities like Brian Lawton. A must-follow for an informative hockey podcast as the duo goes to great lengths to produce a knowledgable quality listening product and are some of the best when it comes to fan interaction or wisdom seeking questions. Also, Pete Blackburn returns to the program once The Skate Pod moves back to Sunday’s with the departure of New England football talk. So they got that going for them, which is nice.

The Perfection Pod

This is a new program for the 2019-20 Bruins season and has sneakingly become one of my favorites from the start. Hockey analyst legend Billy Jaffe along with The Athletic Bruins beat writers Joe McDonald and Fluto Shinzawa provide news and updates from the happenings at TD Garden in Boston to on the road from high above when the team travels. All three members meet for a free podcast recording early every week and then an exclusive episode for The Athletic subscribers only ( Click HERE To Get Involved ) to end the week. The group brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and another must follow in my opinion as the shows get better every episode.

The Hockey Show Podcast

A production from the folks at 98.5 The Sports Hub, Ryan Johnston hosts this program from the flagship radio station of the Boston Bruins and is joined weekly by radio play-by-play guy Judd Sirott and his color analyst and former Bruins defenseman Bob Beers. This program is another one that gets deep into Bruins new and has tremendous guests such as aforementioned Billy Jaffe and 98.5 The Sports Hub scribe of Ty Anderson who does an awesome job pumping out related articles. This program is recorded on Saturday mornings during the regular season and features some very entertaining phone call-ins. Highly recommended!

Another new program to me regular listens is Marina’s Morning Skate hosted by Marina Molnar and is a Barstool Sports production. Another great show that I highly recommend as Marina is a very knowledgable Die Hard Bruins fan. A former active writer for the Weekend at Bergy’s website that she owned and operated, Marina’s taken that B’s insight and passion to the pod waves in this her first season of this trending hockey podcast. From Bruins prospect Zach Senyshyn to Spittin’ Chiclets host Rear Admiral, Marina has put together a sweet lineup of enjoyable guests. Big fan of this program and you should be too!

Bruins Beat Podcast

A production of the growing CLNS Media Network, UMass college student and host Evan Marinofsky juggles his busy schedule to observe the Bruins games from high above the TD Garden ice on the regular. This once a week program can be heard on Tuesday mornings and Evan is no slouch when it comes to scheduling special guests to drop even more knowledge to this tremendous weekly Bruins broadcast. From NESN’s own Dale Arnold and Jack Edwards to funny Boston Sports personalities such as DJ Bean and Conor Ryan this program is a must follow and subscribe as Evan’s is a serious up and comer when its Boston Sports media and it’s future.

Big Bag Bruins Podcast

Part of the Full Press Radio Network and yet another Bruins related hockey podcast that’s new to the pod waves this season hosts Ian Glendon and Chris Blackey has provided me with an entertaining level of B’s hockey talk. The show has had a few guest appearances from the aforementioned Marina Molnar of the Morning Skate Podcast to the vast amount of knowledge from Boston Herald beat writer Steve Conroy. Both Ian and Chris have formed a tremendous amount of chemistry between their two personalities since joining forces at the beginning of the 20-9-20 Boston Bruins season. If you haven’t followed these two or subscribed to their show, I heavily recommend you do!

Chris Mancuso’s Weekend Wrap Podcast

This is another podcast that I basically claw at the door for its weekly drop usually at the beginning of the workweek. Chris Mancuso is another up and comer in the Sports media world and is a die-hard Boston Bruins fan from the Niagara, Ontario area. What sets this program away from the others I frequently listen too is the way, Chris brings his passion and I don’t give a shit attitude when it comes to his feelings and opinions for his beloved Boston hockey team. He also does an awesome job on post-game Periscope sessions that are currently found on Twitter and very entertaining so give him a follow to get involved.  The reason I highly recommend this show is the details Mancuso gets into dropping a significant amount of knowledge while breaking down the week that was in Bruins nation.

Something Bruin In PVD Podcast

This is a highly recommended Bruins related podcast if you want to get a better idea of what’s going on in the Boston Bruins minor-pro depths with the American Hockey Leagues Providence Bruins. This Program hosted by longtime season ticket holders Gary Azera and Steve DaSilva has been on the pod waves for a couple of seasons and is getting better and better with every episode drop into my podcast downloads. The 2019-20 regular season for this particular program has been my favorite thus far with the unbelievable guests these two gentlemen have had appear on the show. From RinkSideRhodeIsland.com founder/reporter Mark Divver to former player Ben Guite and current Providence Players and Bruins prospects Cameron Huges and Trent Frederic, this show has it all when you need info from the lower levels of Bruins development.

Brits on Bruins Podcast

Another new Bruins hockey podcast but this one is from another part of the world as the sport of hockey continues to grow. The Brits on Bruins podcast is a production of The Hockey Podcast Network and hosted by Hayden Carpenter and Chris Gadsby. The THPN continues its efforts to bring hockey fans opinions and news covering every National Hockey League team on a weekly basis with most providing multiple shows in that timeframe. These guys definitely know their hockey and the show chemistry with an interesting agenda is well put together in an effort to deliver a quality listening experience.  This is a must-add for podcast junkies like myself.

Locked on Bruins Podcast

For your daily fix of sports-related content, there’s no better place than the Locked On Podcast Network but keeping the sports limited in this instance, the Locked on Bruins Podcast is a must follow and subscribe for daily news and updates concerning the NHL Boston team. Former The Score writer Ian McLaren is the host and this is the first season behind the mic and he’s been a solid addition to my regular listens. Having daily updates and even hearing the news for the first time on this program immediately gets the wheels turning for a Bruins related article as soon as I get done with my regular 40 workdays. Ian is knowledgable and down to earth with his B’s insight and highly recommend you follow him and subscribe to his program.

Bearly on Topic Podcast

This is a show I’ve had the pleasure of listening to for the past few seasons and is always a good program to hear while passing the time at work. Hosts VA, Geoff Baldwin, and our very own BNG Providence Bruins writer and Black N’ Gold Prospects Podcast host Tim Richardson provide a unique look into this Boston Bruins team for a fun and intelligent conversation a few times a month. When show topics are needed to fill the program’s agenda, these guys certainly put in the time to research but most is acquired from being die-hard B’s fans and from what they witness from the ole eye test. Enjoyable Bruins banter and highly recommend.

Line Changes Podcast

Hosted by Alex and Brad, these two absolute diehard B’s fans have brought there insightful and fun tweets to the pod waves for knowledgeable and yet hilarious views of this Boston Bruins club. This is a new program that started this season and has increasingly gotten better and better after every listen. Definitely a program that once folks seriously pay attention to is going to go in the right direction in popularity. This duo reminds me of Pete Blackburn and DJ Bean on most occasions with their takes about this team and it at an entertaining level. For those who support Bruins related programs of all levels, this is a sweet addition and the two hard-working hosts are trying to get a consistent recording schedule down as they’ve said on previous shows. If these guys could get weekly content out, the sky’s the limit.
