Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced on Tuesday morning that the team has re-signed restricted free agent forward Karson Kuhlman to a two-year contract. The deal will carry an average annual of $725,000.
The contract is a two-way deal for this coming season, the 2020-21 campaign. The following season in 2021-22, it will be a one-way contract.
Kuhlman skated in 25 games with Boston this past season, posting one goal and five assists for six points to go along with a plus-three rating and thirteen penalty minutes. The 25-year-old was held pointless in five playoff games. In nine games with the Providence Bruins, Boston’s American Hockey League affiliate, Kuhlman totaled 4-1-5 numbers.
During the 2018-19 season, the Esko, Minn., native saw action in 11 games with the varsity club in Boston, tallying three goals and two helpers for five points in addition to a plus-five rating and two penalty minutes. In eight playoff contests during the Bruins’ run to the Stanley Cup Final, notching 1-2-3 totals.
Through 58 games with the P-Bruins in 2018-19, Kuhlman had 12-18-30 numbers as well as a plus-23 rating and eight penalty minutes. After joining Providence out of college in 2018, Kuhlman had one assist in two regular season games before adding another helper in one playoff contest.
Kuhlman signed with Boston as an undrafted free agent coming out of the University of Minnesota-Duluth after his senior year in 2017-18. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward captained the team to a National Championship in 2018.
