Boston Bruins Jake DeBrusk has been a solid member of this Boston Bruins organization on and off the ice throughout the New England area. This recent act of kindness hit home as the 24-year-old native of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was acknowledged for giving back to his youth hockey community.

DeBrusk, along with worldwide hockey equipment supplier Bauer worked together with SportCentral.org who’s mission is dedicated to making resources available to assist needy kids in sport across Edmonton, central, and Northern Alberta. Per the SportCentral website, this initiative is to retrieve, repair, recycle and redistribute sports equipment to kids who cannot afford the opportunity to play.

Per the SportCentral Twitter Bio, the non-profit organization has outfitted over 160 thousand kids between the ages of 4-17 and done so since 1991. As seen below, they received the first of two shipments, which was 276 pieces of protective equipment valued at $20K.

DeBrusk is currently in his fourth season with the Bruins organization, a team that selected him in the first round in the summer of 2015. In 212 career games with Boston, the 6′-0″ 190-pound forward has 62-60-122 career NHL numbers.
