The Boston Bruins came into Lake Tahoe with one thing in mind; grab two points against the Philadelphia Flyers. However, they weren’t going to let a big matchup stop them from having a little bit of fun.

The Boston Bruins showed a lot of personality this weekend, and as fans, that is amazing stuff to see. It all started when they showed up to the game. We all know outdoor hockey games bring back nostalgia from being on the ponds. Well, Patrice Bergeron and company decided to go one step further. They showed up to Lake Tahoe on Sunday dressed up in all 90’s gear, and it was electric. Jaroslav Halak even broke out a fake mullet for warmups.

David Pastrnak took the ice for warmups in pink sunglasses. It was great to see the Boston Bruins get two big points against a top team in the MassMutual East Division, but it was great to see them have some fun. These athletes are people, too, and it is fun to watch them have a blast.

Game-wise, a lot of great things happened. No one player had a bad game, but some players stood out from the rest. John Moore and Connor Clifton had excellent games on the back end, getting shots through and generating offense. A couple of milestones occurred on the lake as well. Urho Vaakanainen notched his first NHL point with an assist, and Trent Frederic scored his first NHL goal with a snipe in the second period. Patrice Bergeron also tied Bobby Orr for fifth place for Bruins all-time scoring. I heard that Orr guy was pretty good.

Furthermore, Pastrnak gave an all-time interview at the end of the game. Pastrnak was dancing to “Barbie Girl” in the locker room when the media called to talk to him. He gave a perfect answer to the media. Pastrnak has a ton of personality, and it is a pleasure to watch this guy play night in and night out. It helps that he happens to be very good at hockey too.

It would be remiss not to give the National Hockey League some credit. They need to somehow gain viewer interaction in a weird season with limited fans. Lake Tahoe had beautiful views, and they somehow got both games done after having ice issues in the first period of the Colorado Avalanche – Vegas Golden Knights game.

All in all, it was a great weekend. The Bruins won and remained in first place in the division. The players had a blast and showed some personality which is always good to see. And hey, last time the Bruins played in an outdoor game, they made the Stanley Cup Finals. If anything, the Bruins took home a win and made some team chemistry.
