About The Podcast

The Lindroth boys recently launched a brand new podcast show called “The Lindroth Hockey Podcast,” featuring co-hosts, father and son duo, Andrew and James Lindroth. This show is apart of the Black N’ Gold Podcast Network.

We decided to combine our old and new school hockey mindsets to create fascinating discussions about current National Hockey League (NHL) news, news revolving around the Boston Bruins organization, and ‘old-time’ hockey memories. We are also based in Tulsa, OK, and regularly attend the Anaheim Ducks’ (NHL) East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) minor-pro affiliate, the Tulsa Oilers, and will be discussing news related to the Tulsa organization.

The podcast show releases a new episode every week and occasionally has special guests ranging from other hockey writers, players, coaches, other additional professional hockey staff, and more!

This week for episode 36 we had the pleasure of having former Providence and Boston Bruin, Jay Henderson, join us on the podcast to have in-depth discussions on his hockey career, playing for the Boston Bruins, winning the Calder Cup three times, playing in the United Kingdom, and much more!

Jay played juniors (WHL) as a forward from 1994-1998; during that time, he was drafted during the 1997 NHL Entry Draft in the ninth round by the Boston Bruins. It wasn’t long until Jay made his debut with the Boston Bruins during the 1998-1999 season and went on to win the AHL Calder Cup championship with Providence in 1999. He continued suiting up for Boston and Providence over the next few years until 2001, then later played for various teams in the AHL, winning the Calder Cup championships with the Houston Aeros in 2003 and the Milwaukee Admirals in 2004. In 2005, Jay traveled overseas for the next several years, making appearances in the DEL (Germany) from 2005-2009, the EBEL from 2008-2009, and the EIHL in 2010 when he would help lead the Nottingham Panthers to capture the EIHL championship title. After winning the EIHL championship, Jay decided to hang his skates up, officially retiring in 2010.

Andrew– “We actually had Terry Virtue on the show about two-three months ago and we had discussed that ’98-’99 Providence team and Terry said that team was probably one of the best, if not the best team in AHL history. So confirm or deny Jay, how good was that team back then?”

Jay– “I would put that team up against anybody, it was a magical year…and we could play tough, we could play hard, we could play fast, you know we set a record that year for scoring 10 goals in one period.. so it was one of those magical years, there were less injuries and it just seemed everything worked out well…”
