The process of reshaping the roster of the Bruin’s ECHL affiliate, the Maine Mariners, continued today as the club announced they made a trade with the Worcester Railers, bringing defenseman Connor Doherty to Portland in exchange for the always intriguing “future considerations.” Doherty has played all four of his professional seasons in the ECHL after five seasons with the Junior Bruins and three seasons at Sacred Heart, where he wore the ‘A’ on his sweater his final season.

While not exactly an offensive juggernaut – the biggest offensive output in his four seasons is 11 points, all of which were assists- Doherty will bring experience on the ice and in the dressing room. Doherty is also big in the community, something both the Mariners and the ECHL pride themselves on, winning the ECHL Community Service Award in 2019-2020. You can read the Mariners press release here. The puck drops in Portland for the third season of ECHL action, and the first as the ‘AA’ affiliate of the Bruins, on October 22nd against the Railers; check out their website and purchase tickets and merchandise here.
