Get ready to Mark Your Bruins Calendar all Summer long fans of the Black N’ Gold!
After the exciting team announcement on the official @NHLBruins Twitter of the 2022-2023 schedule release, our BN’G team is ready to highlight some of the watch-worthy marquee moments this season.
And what a season, schedule-wise, it’s shaping up to “B”… both at home and on the road!
From the recently fired Bruce Cassidy returning home to Boston with his new team the Vegas Golden Knights (12/5/22), to the Bruins playing outdoors once again at Fenway Park against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Winter Classic (1/2/23), to ending the year north of the border with hockey’s most historic rivalry in Montreal versus the Canadiens (4/13/23), there’s a lot to keep an eye on this upcoming Fall through Spring (PS… Individual tickets on sale NOW).
So without further ado, let’s spring into on-ice action and feature the opening month of the ’22-’23 season to mark on your calendar — one in which the B’s will play the majority of their games at home at TD Garden.
OCTOBER: HOME COOKIN’
While the first game of the season opens on the road in D.C. against the Washington Capitals on October 12th, the local excitement truly ramps up a few days later when the B’s welcome the Arizona Coyotes to town for a tilt in the “Home Opener.” Oh yes, the Garden Party can commence!
From there, the Bruins will play five of their next seven games in Boston spreading out their opponents across three divisions: the Atlantic, Central and Pacific.
If variety is the spice of life, then how the B’s schedule opens this upcoming season will give you plenty to season on your hockey plate and palate. Talk about some genuine home cooking!
The most notable of those home games cooked up in October will be two tough draws: first, an early season measuring stick affair versus Florida when the Panthers pounce into town on the 17th; and second, the initial weekend matinee match-up of the season against the 113-point winners of the previous year the Minnesota Wild.
And with the NHL Draft here, Free Agency upcoming and a full off season of roster moves ahead, things could truly get wild before the puck drops on ’22-’23 for the Boston Bruins.
In particular, will Patrice Bergeron “officially” be back and for long and how much? Will David Krejci’s triumphant return to the Black N’ Gold be truth or fiction? And will the other David get signed long term?
How about the B’s buying out the Nick Foligno’s of the world or perhaps trading the Craig Smith’s of the roster to free up cap space and acquisition opportunity? And what effect will new head coach Jim Montgomery have on the B’s younger players, from those in development camp to those like the now trade-rescinded Jake DeBrusk who hope to continue developing into top tier, and top line, players?
