The Boston Bruins announced today that the NHL club had signed free agent forward A.J. Greer to a two-year, one-way contract worth a reported $762K in 2022-23. The 25-year-old 6′-3″ 205-pound Quebec, Canada native was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft (39th Overall) and has recently been with the New Jersey Devils organization, primarily with their top minor-pro affiliate, the AHL Utica Comets. Greer had his best career offensively last year when he appeared in 52 games and posted 22-30-52 numbers.
Greer isn’t a stranger to the New England area, as he spent two seasons with the Kimbal Union Academy Prep School in Merideth, New Hampshire. He also played a few games with the Boston Jr. Bruins before joining the Boston University Terriers in the 2014-15 season. His NCAA career in Boston wasn’t so productive offensively as he had 4-8-12 numbers in 55 games. Halfway through the 2015-16 campaign with Boston University, Greer left the NCAA club for the QMJHL Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. It seems the highly offensive league brought something out of his game because he finished the year with the Huskies posting 16-11-27 numbers in 33 games. In the 2016-17 season, A.J. started his career with the Colorado Organization. He spent a few games in the NHL with the Avalanche but primarily with the team’s affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.
