The NHL’s Player Safety board has fined Detroit Red Wings forward Steve Ott for his actions during last night 1-0 loss to the Boston Bruins from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
Detroit’s Steve Ott has been fined $2,222.22, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for spearing Boston’s Zdeno Chara.

The incident happened in the first period in what’s being called a “rather unpleasant spot” which resulted in both players exchanging pleasantries resulting in both players matching unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
Matching penalties for Zdeno Chara & Steve Ott that all started w/some pretty cheap stickwork from Ott that went uncalled. No surprise there
