Boston Bruins defensive prospect Daniel Bukac has unfortunately not seen any action to begin the 2017-18 Western Hockey League season after 14 games for the Brandon Wheat Kings, but after offseason surgery shortly following his first Bruins Development Camp, he’s getting ready for his return to the ice. Last night the 6′-4″ 185-pound defenseman sent out some information in a post on Twitter about his progress and likelihood to return to the Kings blueline within a matter of days.
I feel it!!! #fewmoredaysandiamback

Bukac is an 18-year-old Most, Czech Republic native that was selected in the second round of the WHL’s 2016 Import Draft after posting 3-12-15 numbers with his home countries Under-18 KLH Chomutov club. Last season in his first year of North American Hockey, he played a full 72 game 2017-18 schedule while contributing 2-15-17 numbers. His offensive numbers in his rookie year were not precisely explosive but according to Brandon Sun and Wheat Kings beat writer Perry Bergson who joined me on episode 66 of the Black N’ Gold Hockey Podcast his game and style play a bigger role than what’s seen on a score sheet. You can listen to the October 7, 2017, interview below to hear for yourself.
The interview with Brandon Sun hockey writer Perry Bergson can be heard below at the 57:08 mark of our show if you don’t want to listen to the whole program.
The Brandon Wheat Kings lost to the Prince Albert Raiders last night by the score of 4-1 and are back on the ice tonight as they travel to the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to play the Saskatoon Blades. After tonight’s action on the road against the Blades, the Wheat Kings have a five-day break in action and beneficial time off for the young Bukac to recover from his injuries and could very well be in the line up next Friday night when the Kings return home at Westman Place Arena in Brandon, Manitoba to play the Kootenay Ice.
That’s good news from the Brandon defenceman. #BWK https://t.co/6hYLECGvJr
