Happy 57th Birthday to Former Boston Bruins Defenseman Garry Galley!
Garry Galley was born on April 16th, 1963, in Greenfield Park, Quebec, Canada. Galley grew up in Ottawa and started his playing career at Bowling Green as a left-shot defenseman in 1981 and played until 1984. During his time at Bowling Green, Galley was drafted 100th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. Over the course of his NHL career, he played in 1,149 NHL games over 17 seasons with 6 different NHL teams.
Galley arrived in the Boston Bruins organization in July of 1988 when he signed as a free agent. Galley spent three seasons with the Bruins where he totaled 106 points in 257 games and 322 penalty minutes in his time as a Bruin. In the 1990-91 season, Galley accumulated six goals and 21 assists for 27 points and achieved All-Star Game honors.
Galley never lost his love for hockey after those 17 seasons, so after he retired in 2001, he followed it up with becoming a radio co-host on Team 1200 in Ottawa and also became a color-analyst for the Hockey Night in Canada team for CBC and now works alongside Paul Romanuk and Dave Randorf as Sportsnet and Rogers Media’s second-best broadcast team. Garry Galley was named to the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame in 2010
