Turkey. Stuffing. Mashed potatoes. Gravy. And a side of the Boston Bruins for dessert. Now that’s a Thanksgiving holiday serving for many fans to feast on!
And now that the NHL has served up the B’s versus Rangers for their annual Thanksgiving Showdown at 1:00pm on November 26th (they want to give you a day to “digest” everything), what better way to celebrate than to regather around your Rockwellian table and TV to share in the company of family, friends and your favorite team.
Now, these teams have shared in quite a bit of day-after Turkey Day showdown history; most recently in 2019 and before that in 2013, with the B’s winning both games by a 3-2 score.
But perhaps most memorable about these games have been the promo videos and clips — something ALL hockey fans have been thankful for!
Speaking of which, now’s the perfect time to list my four FULFILLING reasons why I’m “most thankful” for the Boston Bruins, and all things Black N’ Gold, in 2021.
So, without further ado… let me introduce you to… in no particular order mind you:
Reason No. 1 – Patrice Bergeron
Bergy gobbles up pucks like the family in the aforementioned video goes after turkey. Even in the later years of his storied career, his puck presence, productivity and panache offer up an ELITE example of professional hockey — both on and off the ice!
Reason No. 2 – Team Tomfoolery
First it was candy corn. Now it’s cranberry sauce. The @NHLBruins and @JetBlue Twitter accounts continue to showcase the laughs and love the B’s players share in while forming what we hope will become some formidable team chemistry that successfully propels them through the season and the playoffs.
And to quote Brad Marchand midway through the clip below: “It’s not Thanksgiving without cranberry sauce!”
Reason No. 3 – #TDFansgiving
If there’s any team in the NHL that “gives thanks” to its fans on a regular basis, it’s the Boston Bruins. And around the Thanksgiving holidays, perhaps the best annual example is the always celebrated #TDFansgiving.
It’s this type of “social interaction” that always gives the B’s the edge when it comes to magical and memorable fan experiences, even if the team hasn’t yet hit its stride on the ice consistently. The @NHLBruins are 100% consistent in the Fansgiving department!
Reason No. 4 – BN’G Podcasts
If you love listening in on ALL things Boston Bruins, Providence Bruins and the entire B’s organization, then the myriad of professionally produced puck podcasts from Team BN’G are definitely something to be thankful for this year.
From game previews and summaries to prospect breakdowns to analyzing cap and salary figures, each BN’G podcast brings something new and interesting to the Bruins’ hockey table.
So don’t table the above options any longer. Give ’em a follow and stay tuned in to the B’s all season long!
