On day two of the 2022 National Hockey League entry draft from the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec, the Boston Bruins, with the 54th pick, select center Matthew Poitras. The 5′-11″ 176-pound right-shooting forward spent his rookie season in the Ontario Hockey League with the Guelph Storm, where the 18-year-old posted 21-29-50 numbers in 68 games.
Poitras was picked by the Guelph Storm in the 2020 OHL Priority Draft when he was selected in the first round and 12th overall. The Brooklin, Ontario native will likely return to the OHL for a year to two of further development. After the age of 20-year-old, Matthew will be eligible for the American Hockey League Providence Bruins.
