This past weekend of Bruins College Hockey was dominated by a handful of players, all in top form. They’re producing at season-high or career-high clips if they’re not actively riding a multi-game point streak. As the NCAA tournament approaches, every game carries more weight for teams on the bubble, and every single point the Bruins prospects produce means more and more for their postseason chances:
Dans Locmelis (C) – UMass – Locmelis recorded back-to-back two-point games for the fourth time this season, notching a goal & assist in both victories over Alaska this past weekend. He hadn’t found the back of the net since November 22nd until he sparked a third-period rally and eventual 4-2 on Friday night, then tacked on his fifth goal of the year in the 7-3 blowout on Saturday. Locmelis is the leading scorer by a significant margin amongst Bruins prospects in college hockey, with 24 points. He has more assists (19) than second-place Ty Gallagher and Ryan Walsh have total points (17).
Ryan Walsh (C) – Cornell – Speaking of hot streaks, Walsh netted his ninth goal of the season on Friday night against Harvard, which proved to be the eventual game-winner in a 4-1 victory. He came into the game scorching hot with five points over his previous three outings and has overtaken Andre Gasseau as the leading scorer amongst Boston Bruins prospects in NCAA Hockey.
Ty Gallagher (D) – Colorado College – Gallagher recorded an assist in each game of CC’s weekend split with Arizona State, matching his efforts from the previous weekend against Minnesota-Duluth and setting a season-high four-game point streak. The veteran defenseman has points in six of eight in 2025 and currently stands three points back of his career high of 21 as the Tigers are scrambling to revive their rapidly fading NCAA tournament hopes.
Chris Pelosi (C) – Quinnipiac – Pelosi maintained his own hot streak by notching his first career shorthanded goal against rivals Yale, on top of a pristine 10-2 night on faceoffs, in the CT Ice consolation game on Saturday afternoon. The freshman center has seven points in his last ten games and has scored as many goals in that span (five) as he had total points before the Christmas break.
Mason Langenbrunner (D) – Harvard – Langenbrunner set up Harvard’s eventual game-winner against Colgate on Friday night, having his wrist shot from the point deflected home to break a 1-1 tie halfway through the third in a 4-1 win. The assist also marked a new career-high in points for the junior defenseman with six, breaking his sophomore total in 13 fewer games. Langenbrunner has already set his career high in goal scoring (three) earlier this season.
Looking Ahead – No rest for Andre Gasseau, Oskar Jellvik, and Dean Letourneau as Boston College faces a top-ranked team for the third straight weekend, taking on eighth-ranked UMass-Lowell on Friday night before gearing up for the Beanpot on Monday. Dans Locmelis and the freshly 20th-ranked Minutemen host Merrimack on Friday night before taking the long bus ride to Maine on Sunday. Philip Svedeback and the seventh-ranked Providence Friars have a massive home-and-home with the suddenly white-hot CT Ice Champion and ninth-ranked UConn Huskies.
Chris Pelosi and Elliott Groenewold hit the road for Dartmouth on Friday for their lone game of the weekend. Mason Langenbrunner and the Crimson host Princeton on Friday for their only game of the weekend, as they also will prep for the Beanpot against BU. Ryan Walsh will take on St. Lawrence and Clarkson in northwestern New York.
Ty Gallagher and Colorado College have one of their last bonafide opportunities to boost themselves back into tournament contention with a home weekend against third-ranked Western Michigan. Casper Nassen and the Miami Redhawks host 12th-ranked Arizona State for a pair. Jake Schmaltz and North Dakota hit the road to play St Cloud State for the weekend, which could prove pivotal for their season as they’re also on the Pairwise bubble for tournament qualification. Beckett Hendrickson and Minnesota look to rebound after a tough weekend in East Lansing, hosting a surging Wisconsin team that’s found their game after a slow start.
