The Boston Bruins can’t seem to get away from the injury bug. The team announced early this afternoon that center Mark Kastelic is being placed on injured reserve, a move that comes just six days after he returned to practice from injury. In a corresponding transaction, the Bruins have recalled Patrick Brown and Max Jones from Providence to address this new absence in the forward group.
Brown, named captain of the Providence Bruins earlier this season, has amassed 9-16-25 in 37 AHL games. Brown’s call-up comes amid a recent hot streak where he’s posted 5-8-13 over the past 14 games. The 32-year-old joined the Bruins organization when Don Sweeney signed him to a two-year, $1,600,00 contract in July 2023.
Jones has appeared in 26 for the Providence Bruins and notched 8-3-11 during that time. The former 2016 first-round pick came to Boston this offseason when he signed a two-year $2,000,000 contract last July. Like Brown, Jones is riding one of his best streaks of the season, registering 4-2-6 over his previous nine games.
Kastelic joins fellow teammates Hampus Lindholm (leg), Charle McAvoy (wrist), and Cole Koepke (upper body) on injured reserve. In addition, pending unrestricted free agent Trent Frederic missed Monday’s game due to illness. The Bruins will be down at least four skaters as they head into a stretch that sees them taking on the New Jersey Devils (26-17-6), Ottawa Senators (24-18-4), and Colorado Avalanche (28-19-1).
