The Boston Bruins have activated forward Mark Kastelic from injured reserve and assigned forward Vinni Lettieri to AHL Providence, the team announced today. Kastelic, placed on injured reserve on January 21st after suffering an injury the day prior, has missed the last six games. Lettieri, recalled on January 13th, appeared in eight games during his stint with Boston.

Kastelic suffered an injury in the team’s 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on January 9th, taking him out of action for the next two games. After returning for matchups with the Ottawa Senators on January 18th and the San Jose Sharks on January 20th, Kastelic was placed on injured reserve.

In his first season with the Bruins after being acquired from Ottawa in June, the 25-year-old has scored four goals and tallied nine assists for a career-high 13 points in 45 games. In 189 career games between Boston and Ottawa, the Phoenix, Arizona native has 18 goals and 20 assists for 38 points.

On his second tour of duty with the Bruins’ organization, Lettieri suited up for eight games for the team since his call-up on January 13th, scoring two goals. The 29-year-old appeared in one game for the Bruins in the 2022-23 season before signing with the Minnesota Wild. Lettieri made his re-debut for the Bruins in the team’s 6-2 win over Tampa Bay on January 14th.

In 35 games with Providence before his call-up, the Excelsior, Minnesota native, was playing at a point-per-game pace with 35 points in 35 games. He is second on Providence in points, trailing teammate Georgii Merkulov by four points in five more games played. In 312 AHL games across four franchises, Lettieri has 134 goals and 138 assists for 272 career points.

After the morning skate, Bruins’ Head Coach Joe Sacco said Kastelic would return to the lineup tonight. The Bruins host the Wild (31-18-4) for their lone visit to TD Garden this season, with puck drop set for 7 p.m.
