Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today that the team has recalled forward Fabian Lysell and defenseman Michael Callahan from Providence on an emergency basis.
Lysell has played in 51 games with the Providence Bruins this season, recording 11-23-34. Since being drafted, he has participated in just one National Hockey League regular season game, which came earlier this year against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The former first-round pick has appeared in 161 career American Hockey League games, scoring 40-81-121. The 5-foot-11 winger was selected 21st overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
Callahan has participated in 43 games with the Providence Bruins this season, recording 1-7-8. Throughout his AHL career, he has accumulated 7-28-35 points in 183 games. This season, the former fifth-round pick has also played in 11 games with the Boston Bruins but did not register any points. Callahan, a former Providence College Friar, was originally selected by the Arizona Coyotes with the 142nd pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
Fans have anxiously waited for Fabian Lysell’s recall for a while. After a sluggish start in Providence, the Swede has picked up his game with the confidence to try anything. In recent games, the former first-rounder has played very well, using his speed and skill to attack defenders and create opportunities. We hope that speed and skill translate to the next level.
Fans know what they are getting with Callahan. He’s a smart, defensive defenseman who helps keep pucks out of his net. Michael was an AHL All-Star selection this season but did not attend due to his commitments in the NHL.
Catch the Boston Bruins as they embark on their West Coast road trip starting Thursday, as the team heads to Vegas to take on the Golden Knights. The puck drops at 10:00 pm ET. Hopefully, we will see a good showing out of these prospects.
