After an impressive week for the Providence Bruins, who traveled to Pennsylvania and dominated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the Bruins will end their current road trip tonight and Wednesday when they face the Charlotte Checkers at Bojangles Arena. This will wrap up their eight-game road trip. After their time in the South, the Bruins will return home for the first time in 18 days to face two Atlantic Division foes. The team will take on the Hartford Wolfpack on Saturday and the Springfield Thunderbirds on Sunday. Michael DiPietro and Brandon Bussi are expected to alternate starts once again as they continue to be the backbone for Providence.

The team will be shorthanded as Vinni Lettieri, Patrick Brown, Ian Mitchell, Fabian Lysell, and Michael Callahan will remain in Boston for the remainder of their West Coast road trip and will be unavailable for upcoming games. The status of John Farinacci and Jake Gaudet is still uncertain. Farinacci missed the trip to Pennsylvania due to an injury he had sustained against the Thunderbirds the week before. Jake Gaudet suffered his injury during the 10-2 victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday, where he recorded 2-1-3.

This series marks the first time the Providence Bruins will face the Charlotte Checkers this season. Last year, the Bruins’ record was 3-1-0 against Charlotte. A victory in this matchup would allow the Providence Bruins to secure a playoff berth, making them the fourth team to do so, following the Milwaukee Admirals, Texas Stars, and Atlantic Division-leading Hershey Bears. The Bruins, Penguins, Bears, and Checkers are all in a tight race for the top two spots in the Atlantic Division, so securing regulation wins against these teams is crucial as they compete for first-round byes.

On Saturday, the Providence Bruins will host the Hartford Wolfpack. This season, the Baby Bruins have a record of 5-3-0 against the Wolfpack. Providence defeated Hartford 5-2 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in their last matchup. However, the team looks quite different now, as none of the three stars from that game are currently on the roster. In the previous match, Hartford’s goaltender, Louis Domingue, had a strong performance until a fluke goal by Vinni Lettieri tied the game. After that, Providence scored three more unanswered goals in the third period to secure the victory. Brandon Bussi made 18 saves on 20 shots in that game. The Wolfpack remains a formidable opponent, as they are fighting for their playoff lives and currently sit just outside of playoff contention.

On Sunday, the team will face off against the Springfield Thunderbirds. This season, the Bruins have a record of 5-5-1 against the T-Birds. The Baby Bs delivered a dominant performance in their last matchup, winning 4-1. Newcomer Fraser Minten achieved a hat trick, added an assist, and recorded four points in the game, earning him the American Hockey League’s First Star of the Day title. Additionally, Michael DiPietro had another impressive performance, stopping 24 of 25 shots on goal.

Catch the Providence Bruins as they face off against the Charlotte Checkers this Tuesday. The Bruins aim to secure a playoff berth with a victory while also seeking to create distance between themselves and the Checkers in the Atlantic Division standings as the season enters its final stretch.
