Providence Bruins General Manager Evan Gold announced today that the Providence Bruins have signed forward Jake Schmaltz to a one-year American Hockey League contract for the 2025-26 season. Schmaltz will join the P-Bruins on an Amateur Tryout Agreement for the remainder of this season.

Jake Schmaltz, a Wisconsin native, was selected by the Boston Bruins in the seventh round of the 2019 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Since then, he has played four seasons with the North Dakota Fighting Hawks. Over the course of his collegiate career, Schmaltz participated in 147 NCAA games and recorded 20-43-63. This past season, the 6-foot-1 forward scored 6-10-16 in 38 games. Coming from the Green Bay Gamblers, Schmaltz is well-acquainted with the professional hockey lifestyle, as both of his brothers, Jordan and Nick Schmaltz, were selected in the first round of their respective drafts and have experience playing in the NHL. While Jordan has since retired, Nick still plays in the NHL with the Utah Hockey Club.

Jake Schmaltz is an all-around player you can rely on. During his junior year, his teammates named him assistant captain. He consistently found ways to score points in crucial games. Schmaltz excels at winning faceoffs and is willing to put his body on the line for the team, evidenced by the 16 shots he blocked that season. While he may not be the type to impress with a 60-point season, Jake is dependable at both ends of the ice. Fans are excited to see what he will achieve in Providence this season.
