The Boston Bruins have dropped their last ten games, marking their longest losing streak since the 2009–10 season. Posting a record of 0-9-1 during the skid, their tenth loss came at the hands of a divisional rival, the Montreal Canadiens. The last time the black and gold won a game was against Florida back on March 11th, 2025. Boston has only won two of their last 15 games.

The streak began on March 13, 2025, with a 6–3 loss to the Ottawa Senators. Over the ten-game stretch, the Bruins were outscored 46–18, with some of their worst losses coming against Los Angeles (7–2), Tampa Bay (6–2), and Anaheim (6–2). As a result, Boston has plummeted to the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. This marks the first time since 1997 that Boston has been at the bottom in the month of April, almost 30 years between each season.

The biggest issue plaguing the Bruins during this stretch (and, realistically, all season) is their lack of offensive production – more specifically, their ability to generate shots on goal. Their worst period, by far, has been the second period. In their 6-2 loss against Tampa Bay, the Bruins were outshot 21-0 in the second period. In their 4-1 loss against Montreal, they were outshot 17-2 in the second period.

As Ty Anderson of 98.5 The Sports Hub reports, the period where Boston was outshot 21-0 against Tampa Bay was the “second zero-shot period of the season, but definitely the worst.” Teams have the ability hold the Bruins’ offense to low shots – if they allow Boston to get shots on goal at all, as we’ve seen against Tampa Bay and Ottawa, and in hockey, if you can’t shoot, you can’t score. And that’s been the case for this Bruins team all season long.

For most of the season, Boston was in a Wild Card battle with other teams in the East. Once the March 7th Trade Deadline came around and general manager Don Sweeney sold several key pieces, the Bruins’ place in the standings started falling further and further. As a result of the freefall, and what’s been just about the only bright spot during this difficult stretch of hockey, is the Bruins’ position in the 2025 National Hockey League Entry Draft has greatly improved.

With all of the top four or five prospects in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft moving around in positioning, it’s unclear as to who Boston is going to select, depending on where they end up. As Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe reports, the Bruins will select first, fourth, or fifth. Certainly not the position Boston expected to be in to start the year, but a bright spot despite the struggle during this stretch.

The Boston Bruins have an opportunity to snap their losing streak against a strong Carolina Hurricanes team as they’re set to face them tonight at TD Garden. If they’re unable to snap the streak, however, they’ll tie their longest losing streak in franchise history of 11 games, which came back in the 1924-25 season.
