Earlier today, the Bruins, along with the rest of the National Hockey League, released their schedules for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign. The schedule release followed the release of each team’s home opener.
The Bruins will open their season on a back-to-back, visiting the Washington Capitals on Wednesday, October 8th, for Washington’s home opener, followed by their home opener on October 9th. Comedian Bill Burr was featured on the Bruins’ Twitter, highlighting some key match-ups we’re going to see this season. Some of the match-ups highlighted included games versus the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Bruins will play 25 games against Atlantic Division opponents. The Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Detroit Red Wings will all face the Bruins four times this season. The Buffalo, Montreal, and Detroit season series will consist of two home and two away games.
The Bruins and Tampa Bay series will see one game in Boston and three in Tampa Bay, as the Bruins and Lightning are headed outdoors in the Sunshine State to play in the Stadium Series game, being held at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay.
The Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and Florida Panthers will all face the Bruins three times throughout the season. The Bruins’ first game against the back-to-back Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers will be played on October 21st, which will see the return of former captain Brad Marchand to TD Garden ice.
This match-up will mark the first time Marchand will play against his former club after signing a six-year extension with the Panthers. However, it’s the only time Marchand will play in Boston this regular season, as the Bruins visit Amerant Bank Arena for two out of the three games in the season series.
Several other former-Bruins will be returning to TD Garden ice this season, as we’ll see Brandon Carlo return on November 11th, former head coach Jim Montgomery on December 4th, Trent Frederic on December 18th, and Charlie Coyle on February 26th.
Of the 82 games this season, 50 of them will be against Eastern Conference opponents, with 32 coming against Western Conference opponents. Home and away games will be split at 41 games apiece, as well.
Among some important league dates, the NHL will go on a two-week break in February for the 2026 Olympics, beginning for the Bruins on February 5th (league-wide on February 6th), with games resuming for the league on February 25th, and for the Bruins, February 26th. The 2026 NHL Trade Deadline will be Friday, March 6th at 3 p.m.
The Bruins will also head out west on four different road trips, facing teams like Anaheim, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Colorado, and St. Louis. Their longest road-game stretch will be from December 27th until January 8th, which will see five road games, four of which are out west.
The longest homestand the Bruins will have this season is five games, and they’ll have two separate five-game stints, which will be played in December and January. Games will be played against teams such as Utah, Edmonton, Vancouver, Ottawa, Calgary, and Seattle.
The Bruins will play their final road game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on April 12th, and the 2025-26 campaign will conclude at TD Garden against the visiting New Jersey Devils, just like the 2024-25 campaign, on Tuesday, April 14th.
