Earlier today, Team USA announced that it has invited 42 players to the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase, being held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at Ridder Arena. Of the 42 players invited, four Bruins prospects were invited, which should come as no surprise given their talent level. Forward James Hagens, William Moore, and Will Zellers, and defenseman Elliott Groenewold all received invites.
For Moore, Zellers, and Groenewold, this year will mark their first appearance at the World Junior Showcase, but Hagens is no stranger, as he attended the previous two years, in 2023 and 2024. This year will show the best talent Boston has had at the showcase in years.
Hagens has always performed well for Team USA. His 2024 Summer Showcase created a lot of buzz, and at the time, he was described as the “consensus candidate to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NHL Draft,” so it’s safe to assume he’ll look to go out and turn some more heads at the 2025 Showcase. Hagens has been a member of various USA National Teams, Team USA World Junior teams, and U.S. National Team Development Programs (USNTDP).
William Moore also has some Team USA experience, despite this being his first Summer Showcase invite, as he’s played for the U17 and U18 National Teams, as well as the 2023-24 and 2024-25 USNTDP, alongside Hagens.
The 2025 Summer Showcase will be running from July 25th through August 2nd, where you’ll be able to catch Hagens, Moore, Zellers, and Groenewold representing their country’s colors.
