It’s certainly the dog days of the National Hockey League offseason, and there have been trade rumors circulating around the Bruins all summer. While there haven’t been any moves made, it’s important to note what names from within the Bruins organization have been involved in these rumors.

Casey Mittelstadt, Pavel Zacha, and Fabian Lysell have all been included in trade rumors to this point. Mittelstadt and Zacha have been included for some time now, though Lysell’s name is just recently popping up in speculated trade talks.

Zacha, 28, was reportedly being shopped by Boston during the 2024-25 season, and it was believed that he was being shopped again during the offseason, according to The Fourth Period.

Zacha, who was acquired by trade from the New Jersey Devils in the 2022 NHL offseason, has been a solid piece for the Bruins. The three best seasons of his career have all come in Boston, where he posted a career high in 2023-24, posting 21-38-59 in 78 games played, a two point improvement over his first season in the Black and Gold, which saw him post 21-36-57 through 82 games played.

Another name with some trade buzz is recently acquired Casey Mittelstadt. Traded from Colorado to Boston in exchange for Charlie Coyle at the 2025 trade deadline, and since his arrival in Boston, it felt as though an additional trade was imminent involving Mittelstadt.

The 26-year-old center is heading into his 10th season in the NHL, and has totaled 81-155-236 through 438 games played. In the 2025 season, Mittelstadt posted 15-25-40 through 81 games played between Colorado and Boston.

Mittelstadt hasn’t been the most offensive player, but he’s been a steady middle-six center for the Bruins, despite the lack of offense surrounding him despite the small sample size in the Black and Gold.

The speculation was first reported by James Murphy of the RG Media, who reported that an NHL executive stated “I don’t know how many rumors he’s been in, but I’ve been hearing [Casey] Mittelstadt could be on the move again since before the Bruins season even ended.”

The NHL executive went on to add that Mittelstadt “wasn’t their main target… Zellers and the second-round draft pick were.”

The most recent addition to the Bruins trade buzz is 21-year-old winger and former first-round draft pick, Fabian Lysell. Lysell debuted in the NHL last season, and in 12 games played, he would post 1-2-3.

Dominic Tiano, of Dom.Hockey, recently reported that Edmonton and Boston have been in discussion about the Gothenburg, Sweden native. Tiano went on to clarify that it was simply a rumor that he heard from a “trusted friend and former business associate with enough standing inside the Oilers organization to be well-informed on the matter.”

There’s been some buzz surrounding other players, but it hasn’t quite caught as much buzz as the three reported here. Joonas Korpisalo was involved in trade talks but, his agent stated he’s happy to be in Boston, despite wanting to fight for more ice time this upcoming season, as Murphy reported.

While there hasn’t been anymore reported traction in terms of trades, it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on as we near the beginning of the 2025-26 season.
