With the National Hockey League Boston Bruins’ 2025-26 regular season down to ten days away, the team announced today their first roster cuts as training camp at the Warrior Ice Arena continues. The B’s have a 2-1 record in these preseason games, with three more contests on the schedule before things get real on October 8th, on the road at the Capital One Arena vs. the Washington Capitals.
So far in this training camp and preseason schedule, we’ve seen some ups and downs as the evaluation process continues. There’s definitely a better atmosphere in the building during the duration of this camp, opposed to last year, where the on-ice camp sessions were flat and coach drills left you uninspired.
Players are working hard this fall and are eager to put last year’s disappointing campaign behind them, focusing on a new mission with the guidance of new bench boss Marco Sturm. There aren’t many roster spots available for younger players or seasoned veterans to earn a spot this year, so trimming the camp roster down was inevitable.
Today’s camp cuts, per the team’s official announcement, are forwards Joey Abate, Ty Cheveldayoff, and Jake Schmaltz. The defensive players who got cut are Ty Gallagher, Jackson Edward, Colin Felix, Loke Johansson, Max Wanner. For the goaltenders, Luke Cavallin and Simon Zajicek were cut from the training camp crease.
All the cuts above have been reassigned to the American Hockey League’s Providence Bruins training camp that kicks off tomorrow in Providence, Rhode Island. The AHL Bruins 2025-26 regular season kicks off on the road on Saturday night October 11th, at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Conneticur to face the Bridgeport Islanders.
Providence went 11-1 against Bridgeport last season but I believe the days are done of running over the New York Islanders top minor-pro affiliate as new General Manager Mathieu Darche behind the helm will restructure the development system and expected to be a better product this season.
