After Elias Lindholm got hurt on Tuesday night against the Nashville Predators, the Boston Bruins have recalled Matt Poitras from the Providence Bruins. The Ajax, Ontario, native has 8-16-24 in 39 AHL games with the P-Bruins. Poitras appeared in 33 games with the B’s last season, tallying a goal and ten assists.

Poitras will make his season debut for the B’s tonight, centering the third line, between Michael Eyssimont and Marat Khusnutdinov. Fraser Minten will bump up to the top line with David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie. Alex Steeves will remain a healthy scratch.

When asked why he got the call, Head Coach Marco Sturm had the following to say about Poitras. “I remember he was a guy I really trust(ed).” said Sturm in regards to Poitras’ Training Camp performance. “Especially in the middle. So I’m not really worried about that, and that’s why there was not really a hesitation to call him up. Yes, he was playing better as of late in Providence, that’s one of the reasons, but we needed a centerman and for me he was the guy because I do trust him.“.

Puck drop for tonight’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers is scheduled for 7:00 PM Eastern. Boston currently occupies the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, and is 8-1-1 in their last ten games, while Philadelphia is six points out of a playoff spot, and is 2-7-1 in their last ten.
