Today’s the day that legendary Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara will have his number raised to the rafters, joining history Bruins alumni such as Ray Bourque, Cam Neely, and Bobby Orr. Despite all the ceremony taking place, the Bruins have a game to play, as they’re facing the Seattle Kraken in the final game of their five-game homestand.

The Bruins have posted a perfect 4-0-0 so far on their homestand, and they’re looking to close it out with a win. They’ve played some of their best hockey all year, especially between the pipes. Both Joonas Korpisalo and Jeremy Swayman posted shutouts, and the Bruins saw no shortage of scoring, putting up 10 goals against the New York Rangers.

Lineup

The Bruins held a morning skate this morning at Warrior Ice Arena, and their practice lines consisted of the same makeup we’ve seen for a number of games now. Head coach Marco Sturm confirmed they’re rolling with that same lineup construction tonight. Additionally, Sturm confirmed that Jeremy Swayman will get the start between the pipes.

Highlights

Tonight is the second of two matchups between the Bruins and Kraken, with the first one being taken in dominating fashion by the Kraken when the Bruins concluded their long 12-day road trip at the start of the month. Both teams come into tonight with the same record in the last 10 games, posting 6-3-1 in those 10.

David Pastrnak has found himself on an offensive tear recently, tying a franchise record during Saturday’s 10-2 win, where he recorded six assists. He tied Bobby Orr and Ken Hodge for the most in one game, and sat just one point back of breaking Bobby Orr’s point record. With his assist in Tuesday’s game, he accomplished that feat, sitting with a career total of 889 points and sole possession of seventh place on the Bruins’ all-time points list.

With tonight’s pregame ceremony, coverage of the game, which’ll be found on NESN and 98.5 The Sports Hub, is set to begin at 6 p.m. EST. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. EST.
