The Bruins continue their five-game homestand against an Original Six rival this afternoon, as the New York Rangers are in town. The Bruins head into the matchup looking to build on their win over the Calgary Flames, which improved their record to 23-19-2 and just three points out of a wild card spot. Today is the Bruins’ first game of a two-game weekend.

The Rangers come into today with a two-game losing streak, after they lost to the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. With a record of 20-19-6, their season hasn’t been easy. Sitting at 7th in the Metropolitan Division and five points out of a wild card spot, they’re going to give the Bruins everything they have.

Lineup

The Bruins are going to roll with the same lineup for today’s game, per head coach Marco Sturm. The lines saw a bit of a shakeup, with Marat Khusnutdinov playing on the first-line left wing with Elias Lindholm and David Pastrnak. Morgan Geekie dropped to the third-line, playing on the right wing alongside Fraser Minten and Alex Steeves.

Jeremy Swayman gets the nod between the pipes today, as Joonas Korpisalo got the net previously, and he put together a stellar performance on Thursday night’s game against the Flames. Swayman has had a much better season, posting a goals against average of 2.91 and a save percentage of .902%. Today’s start will be his 30th of the season.

Highlights

David Pastrnak comes into today’s tilt on a four-game point streak, posting 4-4-8 during that stretch. There are four total Bruins that find themselves on point streaks right now: David Pastrnak, Elias Lindholm (3-2-5, four games played), Mason Lohrei (2-1-3 in three games played), and Charlie McAvoy ( 0-4-4 in four games played).

The Bruins hinted yesterday that we may be in for an elite jersey matchup in today’s game, teasing that the Bruins may be donning their away white jerseys as they host the Rangers, which indicated the Rangers may be wearing their centennial jerseys. Additionally, today’s game is going to be found on ABC, and can be heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
