Through 61 games in the 2025-26 American Hockey League regular season, the Providence Bruins are the best team in the entire league. Providence’s 95 points are the most in the AHL, three more points than the second-best team in the league, the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Providence has recorded its fourth consecutive season of at least 90 points, but this season has been truly special for Providence, with a realistic chance of reaching 100 points. However, there’s still more work to be done for Providence. An Atlantic Division title for Providence is close to being achieved, and a potential Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy is also in sight. One thing has been certain: this Providence team has made history this season, and more history can be achieved when the season concludes in April.
After Providence swept its back-to-back this past weekend against the Utica Comets, the team now has 47 wins on the season. Forty-seven wins mark the highest win total in a single season for Providence since it won 50 games back in the 2012-13 AHL season. Providence’s franchise record for most wins in a single season is 56, which was set during the 1998-99 AHL season.
Providence is capable of tying or breaking the franchise record for wins in a single season with 11 games remaining this season. Providence needs nine more wins to tie the franchise record, and ten more wins to break the record. Based on the team’s remaining schedule, Providence is capable of making more history.
Providence has three games remaining against Utica and the Springfield Thunderbirds. Providence just swept Utica this past weekend, and has won five of the nine meetings against Springfield this season. Two games remain against the Rochester Americans. While Providence hasn’t played against Rochester yet this season, the team has 34 more points than they do. One game remains against the Bridgeport Islanders, Syracuse Crunch, and Hartford Wolf Pack. Providence has won seven of the nine meetings against Hartford this season, won the only meeting against Syracuse, and has lost just one of the 11 games against Bridgeport.
Providence has seen great depth from the roster all season. Six different players have at least 40 points on the roster. Nine different players on the roster have scored at least ten goals this season. Georgii Merkulov leads Providence with 50 points. Captain Patrick Brown’s 49 points are second on the roster, and his 32 assists and +35 rating each lead the team. Riley Tufte’s 27 goals lead Providence’s roster. Reigning Baz Bastien award winner Michael DiPietro has been stellar all season in between the pipes with 29 wins, a 1.92 GAA, and a .931 save percentage.
Providence will return to action on Wednesday night at MassMutual Center against Springfield with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. Providence will have a tough stretch with three sets of back-to-backs and one set of a back-to-back-to-back on the schedule. However, Providence has shown all season how dominant they have been.
