The Boston Bruins have acquired forward Navrin Mutter from the Nashville Predators in exchange for forwards Dalton Bancroft and Massimo Rizzo, the team announced today. Despite the NHL trade deadline passing last week, teams are still allowed to make trades for their AHL affiliates before tomorrow, March 13th. Players acquired after the NHL trade deadline are ineligible to play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Mutter, 24, has appeared in 27 games for the Milwaukee Admirals, Nashville’s AHL affiliate, this season. In those games, Lucan, Ontario native has posted 0-1-1 with 72 penalty minutes. In his AHL career, spanning 149 games across five seasons between Milwaukee and the Stockton Heat, he has 4-16-20 with 299 penalty minutes. The 6’3”, 203-pound forward has never appeared in an NHL game across his three and a half seasons in Nashville’s system.
Bancroft, 25, has spent the last season with the Bruins’ organization after signing out of Cornell University after the 2024-25 collegiate season. In his career with the Providence Bruins, he appeared in 39 games, posting 2-1-3. This season, he has 1-1-2 in 34 games. In the 2025-26 preseason, Bancroft appeared in one game, potting two goals in a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on September 27th.
Rizzo, 24, was just acquired by Boston on deadline day from the Flyers, along with Alexis Gendron, in an AHL swap that saw Brett Harrison and Jackson Edward go the other way. In his lone game for Providence on March 11th, he was held without a point. Before the trade, Rizzo spent time with the ECHL’s Reading Royals, posting 6-16-22 in 29 games for the Flyers’ affiliate. Originally a seventh-round selection by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2019, Rizzo was dealt to the Flyers and signed after attending the University of Denver for three seasons.
