The Boston Bruins have announced that 2025 seventh-overall pick, James Hagens, has signed a three-year, entry-level contract, carrying an annual average value of $975,000 and running through the 2027-28 season.
Hagens, 19, signed an ameteur tryout with the Providence Bruins back on March 24th. Since joining the Bruins’ American Hockey League affiliate, Hagens has appeared in six games, and recorded 1-3-4.
Prior to joining the American Hockey League, Hagens spent two years playing just down the road at Boston College. In his two collegiate seasons, spanning from 2024-2026, Hagens recorded 11-26-37 through 37 games in 2024-25, and 23-24-47 through 34 games in the 2025-26 season.
He’s primarily spent the 2025-26 season on the left wing, when playing for both Boston College and Providence, and right now, the Bruins’ third-line left wing spot is wide open, so it isn’t overly surprising that the team has signed the highest-touted prospect they’ve had in years.
Boston is off for the next two days, as they don’t play again until Saturday, so it gives Hagens time to adjust to the big club and eye a National Hockey League debut on Saturday, April 11th, against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
