There were so many question marks heading into this season for the Boston Bruins. One of the biggest wonders was where the goal-scoring and offensive play-making would come from?

Since coming to Boston in 2022-2023, Pavel Zacha has been a very important player for the Bruins in all situations. But after seeing a slight dip in his production in 2025, he has responded incredibly well during this campaign.

Bruins Head Coach Marco Sturm made it clear early this season that Zacha would be staying as a centerman. And the forward has rewarded his head coach with stellar play.

Zacha anchoring Boston’s second line has proven to be the right call. As centering Casey Mittelstadt and Viktor Arvidsson have unlocked terrific chemistry among all three players.

They are phenomenal along the wall with board battles and puck pursuit, consistently connect on tape-to-tape passes, and are all a threat to find the back of the net. The trio of Zacha, Mittelstadt, and Arvidsson has been Boston’s best line throughout the season.

And while Zacha has proven to be a quality goalscorer during his career, his main claim to fame offensively before this year had been his play-making ability. His vision on the ice and passing skillset enabled him to become a terrific facilitator.

But this year, his finishing ability has taken his offensive repertoire to another level. This past Tuesday night in Carolina, Zacha ripped in a third period score from the slot to tie the game. Not only did it allow Boston to reach the extra session, where they eventually dropped the extra point against the Hurricanes, but Zacha also picked up an impressive milestone.

His third period tally was his 30th lamp-lighter of the campaign. The first time in his career the centerman has reached that plateau. His previous career high in goals was 21, set in back-to-back seasons with the Bruins in 2023 and 2024.

Zacha has been on an absolute heater since the Olympic break ended. He has potted 15 scores, including four multigoal games. Zacha accumulated 14 goals in 82 games last season.

While nobody would have called Zacha’s season last year a disappointment, as he put 47 points in a year the Bruins missed the playoffs, he has clearly taken his game to another level. He has taken on even more responsibility this season, as he is a massive cog in the Bruins power play, penalty kill, and five-on-five play.

The Bruins currently claim the top wild card in the compact Eastern Conference standings, with a record of 43-26-10. A major reason this Bruins team has put up 96 points, with a chance to reach 100, has been Zacha’s extraordinary play.

The Bruins are back home Saturday afternoon for a matinee tilt against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bruins then travel to Columbus for an important game against the Blue Jackets Sunday night before ending the regular season with a home game against the New Jersey Devils Tuesday.
