Patrick Brown has been named the captain of the Providence Bruins for the 2024-25 season, the team announced on Thursday. Brown becomes the 27th captain in franchise history, the first since Josiah Didier, who donned the “C” in the 2022-23 season.

The 32-year-old Brown appeared in 42 regular-season games for Providence last season, scoring 11 goals and notching 21 assists for 31 points. In the postseason, Brown recorded three points in three games against Hartford. For Boston last season, Brown played in 11 regular-season games and one postseason game, tallying an assist. Across nine AHL seasons and four franchises, Brown has played in 447 games, recording 75 goals and 112 assists for 187 points.

This does not mark the first time Brown has been named captain in his career. Brown was named the captain of Boston College in his senior season, and while in the Carolina Hurricanes organization, he was named captain of the Charlotte Checkers, leading the franchise to a Calder Cup Championship in 2019. In 2021, he was named the captain of the Henderson Silver Knights, the AHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights.

The 6’1” forward signed a two-year, 1.6 million-dollar contract to join the Bruins organization in the summer of 2023. After going undrafted, Brown inked his entry-level contract with Carolina in 2014 and spent five seasons in the Hurricanes organization. After departing from Carolina at the end of the 2018-19 season, the Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, native signed with Vegas. After his stint in Vegas, Brown spent time in Philadelphia and Ottawa before signing with Boston.

Four alternate captains will join Brown for the 2024-25 season. Providence announced that Michael Callahan, Vinni Lettieri, Jordan Oesterle, and Billy Sweezey will wear a letter for the franchise this year.
