Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney has announced today that the team has signed forward Tyler Pitlick to a One Year, Two Way contract through the 2024-25 season. This contract will have a cap hit of $775,000.
The 33-year-old forward has played in 43 games for the Providence Bruins this season, recording 16-17-33. Pitlick was initially signed to an American Hockey League Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO) before Providence Bruins General Manager Evan Gold officially signed him to an AHL contract on December 4, 2024. The former second-round draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers has been a consistent bright spot for the P-Bruins this season, ranking fourth on the team in both goals and points.
The Minneapolis Native has had a journeyman career, competing for teams such as the Oklahoma City Barons, Bakersfield Condors, and Hartford Wolfpack at the AHL level before joining the Providence Bruins. In addition to his AHL experience, Pitlick has played in 420 National Hockey League games with various teams, including the Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars, Philadelphia Flyers, Arizona Coyotes, Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, and New York Rangers tallying 56-53-109.
Tyler Pitlick has been an outstanding addition to the Providence Bruins, who are having a rollercoaster of a season. Head Coach Ryan Mougenel and the management team have recognized his leadership. Pitlick will remain in Providence for now, but the Boston Bruins can call him up whenever they wish. Tonight, Boston is playing away against the Carolina Hurricanes, while Providence has a home game scheduled for tomorrow against the Toronto Marlies.
