In addition to adding Ryan Bourque to the team’s coaching staff this morning, the Providence Bruins have signed three players to American Hockey League contracts. General Manager Evan Gold announced that the team had agreed to terms with forwards Ty Cheveldayoff and Erik Middendorf, as well as defenseman Zachary Massicotte, on one-year AHL deals.

A native of Stony Plain, Alberta, Cheveldayoff spent the past season in the ECHL with the Jacksonville Icemen, where he registered 19 points in 66 regular-season games, adding 175 penalty minutes. The year prior, Cheveldayoff played in two regular-season games with the Maine Mariners, where he had an assist. Prior to turning pro, he played parts of four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Spokane Chiefs.

Middendorf spent last season with the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays, where he had 54 points in 67 games. The Scottsdale, Arizona, native has 24 games of AHL experience, all with the Utica Comets. Before turning pro, he played four seasons of College Hockey, two with the Michigan State Spartans and two with the Colorado College Tigers.

Massicotte has 27 games of AHL experience under his belt with both the Belleville Senators and Syracuse Crunch. The Shawinigan, Quebec, native spent the majority of last season in the ECHL with Maine, registering 13 points in 64 games. He also played in four AHL games with Belleville, where he recorded no points and had a -2 rating.
