On Wednesday morning, Evan Gold and the Providence Bruins announced the signing of forward Jacob Perreault. The former Anaheim Ducks first-round pick joins Providence on a one-year deal and an AHL contract. His minor league contract prevents him from being called up to the NHL squad. The 23-year-old right winger, going into his sixth year as a professional, comes from a hockey family in Montreal, Quebec, and stands 5’11.”

Last season, Perreault played in 44 games for the Laval Rocket and the Bakersfield Condors and even five games for the ECHL’s Trois-Rivières Lions. He was involved in a midseason trade, getting shipped from the Canadiens to the Oilers for defenseman Noel Hoefenmayer. While in Bakersfield, he played in 38 games with a stat line of 3-11–14, and a -17 +/- rating. He also went a perfect four-for-four on shootout attempts last season. Perreault has played 218 games in the AHL, totaling 36 goals and 71 assists throughout his five-year career.

The Anaheim Ducks drafted Perreault with the 27th overall selection in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He played in one NHL game for the Ducks, a home game against the New York Rangers on January 8, 2022, and was traded to Montreal in March 2024. Nine months later, the Canadiens traded him to Edmonton. Perreault’s father, Yanic, played 859 NHL games from 1993 to 2008. His brother, Gabe, finished playing at Boston College in the spring and transitioned to the Rangers organization.
