On the eve of Training Camp, the Boston Bruins announced several moves regarding their Hockey Operations department. General Manager Don Sweeney announced that Adam McQuaid has been promoted from a Development Coach within the organization to the Bruins’ Director of Player Development. McQuaid has been with the Bruins since 2021, after retiring from hockey in 2019.
Nick Neary has been named the Bruins’ Assistant Video Coordinator. This season will be Neary’s first at the National Hockey League level, having served as a Video Coordinator, as well as a Video Coach and Manager of Hockey Operations for the P-Bruins the past five seasons.
Ben Smith will be joining the Bruins as a Player Development Coordinator, a title previously held by McQuaid. A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Smith recently retired from professional hockey, having played this past season in Germany with EHC Munchen. Smith played parts of seven seasons in the NHL, winning a Stanley Cup in 2013 with the Chicago Blackhawks. He also played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche, and San Jose Sharks.
While those three changes will impact the NHL level, Providence is making some moves, too. Cam Wolbach is joining the P-Bruins as a Video Coordinator, having previously served as Assistant Director of Hockey Operations at Boston College. Wyatt Lawrence is also joining the P-Bruins staff as a Performance Coach. Lawrence played College Hockey at Westfield State University, and was a Strength and Conditioning Intern with the Dallas Stars.
