In the first period of the Bruins’ 2025-26 season opener, Hampus Lindholm left the ice with a lower-body injury and did not return to the game. He skated for six shifts on Thursday night, totaling 4:26 of ice time, and recorded a shot. Lindholm missed the final 65 games of the 2024-25 season with a broken kneecap, but after Thursday’s win, Marco Sturm said that Lindholm’s injury was “not related to his old injury.” However, he will not play in tonight’s game.

“He’s still day-to-day,” said head coach Marco Sturm ahead of the Bruins’ game on Saturday. “He didn’t practice today. He’s going to be back on the ice tomorrow, and then we’ll see.” When asked if Lindholm would join the Bruins on their road trip beginning Wednesday, Sturm responded, “As of right now, yes, but again, we have to take it day-by-day and see how it is tomorrow.”

Lindholm returned to action for the Bruins during the preseason, skating in three of the six exhibition games. He returned to regular-season action on Wednesday in Washington, skating for a team-high 28 shifts and blocking three shots in just over 20 minutes of ice time. He has also been on the power play, running the second unit through the first two games of the regular season.

In the meantime, Haverhill, MA native Jordan Harris is sliding into the lineup for the Boston Bruins tonight. He will make his debut for the team he grew up rooting for. Ahead of the game, Marco Sturm exuded his confidence in Harris tonight, “The way he finished, I thought he played very well […] his ability to skate and to move around, and use his stick very well.” Jordan Harris skated alongside Andrew Peeke today, and per Boston Hockey Now’s Andrew Fantucchio, former-Sabre Henri Jokiharju is on the second power play unit.

After wins on Wednesday and Thursday, the Boston Bruins want to add to their 2-0-0 start to the season. The journey continues tonight at 7:00 PM on home ice against the Buffalo Sabres. The game will be televised on NESN, and my BNG colleague Ryan Bosworth will be there to cover it.
