The Boston Bruins have placed defenseman Hampus Lindholm on injured reserve and activated defenseman Henri Jokiharju, who has missed the last month of play due to an injury. This news comes ahead of the finale of the Bruins’ five-game road trip, which concludes with their lone visit to Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle to take on the Kraken at 10 p.m. tonight.

Lindholm, who has already spent time on the injured reserve this season, will be “out for a little bit,” according to Head Coach Marco Sturm, who spoke to the media yesterday after the Bruins practiced in Seattle. In 34 games this season, the 31-year-old has 3-11-14 and averages 22:11 of ice time, playing key minutes for a Bruins backend that has battled injuries all season.

The Swedish defenseman has battled injuries for the last two seasons. In the 2024-25 season, he blocked a shot in St. Louis in mid-November and missed the remainder of the season. This year, Lindholm was injured in the Bruins’ second game of the season and missed eight games. Over that stretch, the Bruins went 2-6-0 without their top left-shot defenseman.

Jokiharju, who has been out since November 28th, is set to make his return to the lineup tonight. In 25 games this season, the 26-year-old has 0-6-6 and is a minus-five while averaging 17:23 time on ice. He was recently named to the Finnish Olympic team for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. Jokiharju signed a three-year contract extension with the team over the offseason after being acquired from Buffalo at the 2025 trade deadline.

With Lindholm’s injury, the Bruins’ backend depth will continue to be tested, but the recent activations of Jokiharju and Jonathan Aspirot help the team continue to find its defensive strides. Jokiharju and the Bruins finish off their road trip tonight against the Kraken before heading home for a five-game homestand, which starts on Thursday against the Calgary Flames.
