The Boston Bruins announced today that forward Lukas Reichel has been reassigned to their top minor-league affiliate, the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. Reichel is expected to join Providence in time for tonight’s road matchup at the PeoplesBank Arena in downtown Hartford, Connecticut, where the Bruins will face off against Atlantic Division foe Hartford Wolf Pack.

Per Weei.com’s Scott McLaughlin and 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Ty Anderson, this move (paraphrasing both) to the Bruins AHL affiliate may be short-lived as the B’s organization wants to keep him playing and ready for any opportunity, with the uncertainty of if and when James Hagens makes his official NHL arrival with three games remaining in the 2025-26 NHL season for the parent club

Reichel, a 23-year-old German native, was selected in the first round of the 2020 National Hockey League Entry Draft was acquired prior to this year’s trade deadline, which brought the versatile forward to the Boston organization via a trade with the Vancouver Canucks for the B’s sixth-round draft pick in this summer’s draft from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. In nine games for the Boston Bruins this season, the 6′-0″ 170-pound left shooting forward (W/C) has 1-2-3 numbers at the NHL level since joining the Original Six organization, and in three games for Providence has posted 1-4-5 numbers offensively.

Known for his decent speed, skill, and hockey sense, Reichel will bring an offensive spark to the Providence lineup as they prepare for tonight’s competition on the road in Hartford. Lukas is eligible to join the Bruins’ AHL lineup and their push for a franchises’ secondCalder Cup Championship if and when the NHL B’s are eliminated in the upcoming Stanley Cup postseason.
