The Providence Bruins had their 2025-26 season end in disappointment with a loss to the Springfield Thunderbirds in the Atlantic Division Semifinals in four games. This offseason, Providence has seen huge changes to its roster, with key players Patrick Brown, Riley Tufte, and Georgii Merkulov all departing. Even with a huge roster change, Providence will be eager to prove doubters wrong for the upcoming 2026-27 American Hockey League season.
Providence will begin the season by hosting Springfield on Sept. 26 at Amica Mutual Pavilion, the team’s only preseason game. Providence has a key number of home games that fans can’t miss at home this season when the regular season begins in early October, and it’s time to name them.
Season & Home Opener
Providence will begin its 2026-27 season at home against the Utica Comets on Oct. 2. Puck drop for Providence’s season opener is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. Pregame ceremonies will begin at 6:55 p.m. ET.
First 2026 Playoff Rematch
While Providence begins the new season against Springfield in the preseason, their first regular-season meeting will be early in the season. On Oct. 4, in just the second game of the season, Providence will host Springfield with puck drop scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET.
Springfield gave Providence issues all of last season, despite finishing with 38 fewer points in the regular season. Dillon Dube’s overtime goal in Game 4 to end Providence’s season will forever sting the franchise. A highly anticipated rematch is expected.
Defending Calder Cup Champions Arrive
The Toronto Marlies won the 2026 Calder Cup, and Providence will host the defending champions on Nov. 15 with puck drop scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET.
Defending Western Conference Champions Arrive
Two months after hosting the defending Calder Cup champions, Providence will host the defending Western Conference champion Chicago Wolves on Jan. 22, with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. Providence’s game against Chicago will also feature military appreciation.
Teddy Bear Toss
The teddy bear toss is a fun experience in which fans toss teddy bears onto the ice after the home team scores its first goal of the game. On March 8, Providence will host the Syracuse Crunch for its annual teddy bear toss game, with puck drop scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET.
Hamilton Arrives for the First Time
After 25 years, the Bridgeport Islanders relocated from Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Hamilton, Ontario, and were renamed the “Hamilton Hammers.” Bridgeport’s relocation ends Providence’s frequent matchups with them during a season. The first and only time Providence hosts Hamilton this season is on March 12, with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. It will also be First Responders Appreciation for the game.
Final Home Game of Season
Providence will have its final home game of the 2026-27 season against the Hartford Wolf Pack on April 11, with puck drop scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET. It will be Fan Appreciation Night for the game, and Providence will also be having its team awards.
