For the first time since 2010, the Boston Bruins are headed back to Europe. The B’s will be taking part in the 2027 NHL Global Series Germany, playing two games in Munich during the 2027-2028 National Hockey League season. The opponent, date, and time will be announced later. Both games will be played at the SAP Garden, the home rink of DEL team EHC Red Bull Munich.

The Bruins have obvious ties to Germany, with Head Coach Marco Sturm hailing from Dingolfing and having played and coached for the German National Team. Offseason addition JJ Peterka is a Munich native and played two seasons for EHC Red Bull Munich prior to heading to North America. Finally, Lukas Reichel is a native of Nuremberg, Germany, while newly hired Assistant Coach Matt McIlvane coached both EHC Red Bull Munich, and was an assistant coach for the German Olympic Team.

This trip to Munich will not be the Bruins’ first trip to Germany. In 1959, the B’s played a 23-game exhibition tour of Europe against the New York Rangers, stopping in West Germany, as well as Austria, England, Switzerland, France, and Belgium. For those interested in potentially attending the 2027 Global Series, ticket information will be released later.
