The Boston Bruins college hockey season is officially in full throttle. With Ryan Walsh making his season debut in upstate New York, every Bruin has now hit the ice in 2026-27. The group made the most of the weekend festivities, combining for 15 points, with plenty of fireworks along the way:
Will Zellers and Cooper Simpson – North Dakota – Zellers and Simpson played integral roles for North Dakota in their heavyweight bout with fourth-ranked Michigan State on Halloween night. The duo combined for four points, with Simpson scoring the first two goals of his college career (both on the power play) while Zellers added a goal and an assist. Simpson’s first goal sparked the Fighting Hawks to rally from an early two-goal deficit and tie late in the third, with an assist from Zellers, before the Spartans pulled away for the 5-3 final.
Zellers is now tied with Cole Reschny for the North Dakota scoring lead at 3-5-8 in seven games, with a nine-shot lead over the next-closest teammate. Simpson’s burst has him at 2-1-3 in five games, tied with Zellers for the team lead with two power-play goals.
Dean Letourneau – Boston College – Letourneau continued his red-hot start with three points over BC’s weekend split with Northeastern. He bounced back from a midgame benching on Friday night to score the overtime winner, then added a goal and assist on the man advantage on Saturday, as Northeastern answered with an OT win of their own.
Letourneau leads BC with 5-5-10 in seven games and has recorded a point in every game this season. As NESN’s Eric Gallanty pointed out, Letourneau has been the country’s most prolific shooter this season, with 49 shots on goal, leading all skaters.
Ryan Walsh – Cornell – Walsh opened his senior season with a three-point night in Cornell’s 5-2 win over Sacred Heart, factoring into each of their first three goals; scoring two and then assisting on the third. He finished the weekend series with an eye-popping 46-18 record on faceoffs, winning at least 20 in each game.
Cole Spicer – Western Michigan – Spicer notched a trio of assists throughout the Broncos’ weekend sweep of Long Island, drubbing the Sharks 17-6 over their two games. The senior center has five assists over his last three appearances, and 1-6-7 in seven games overall this season.
Looking Ahead – Letourneau, Kristian Kostadinski, and Leo Henriquez will host UVM for two games on Thursday and Friday night. Jonathan Morello and red-hot Boston University will fly out to East Lansing for a two-game series against Michigan State, the return from their series at Agganis Arena last fall.
Chris Pelosi and Elliott Groenewold will open their ECAC conference schedule on the road, starting against Walsh and Cornell on Friday night before facing Colgate on Saturday. Walsh and the Big Red will host Princeton after their matchup with Quinnipiac.
Zellers and Simpson will open NCHC play against Spicer, as Western Michigan hits the road for Grand Forks for two games. Beckett Hendrickson and Minnesota will host the newly ranked No. 1 Wisconsin Badgers for a weekend series. Casper Nassen and Lake Superior State will host Division I hopefuls Maryville for two exhibition games, as the Saints ramp up their program for a planned 2027-28 debut.
