After a 4-2 best-of-seven first-round Western Hockey League playoff series exit at the hands of the Portland Winterhawks last Monday, Prince George Cougars forward and Boston Bruins prospect Jesse Gabrielle is heading to the American Hockey League on a full-time basis. The 6′-0″ 205-pound left winger has played for the Brandon Wheat Kings, Regina Pats, and Prince George in his four-year WHL career and is now ready to step onto a Providence Bruins roster who has three regular season games remaining in the 2016-17 season and Calder Cup Playoff run.
Gabrielle joins @AHLBruins, the postseason heats up, and college prospects wrap things up.

In 250 career games in the WHL, the 19-year-old Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native posted impressive numbers in one of the tougher leagues in the Canadian Junior Hockey League system with 110-99-209 totals, a career plus 21, and an astonishing 376 penalty minutes. His WHL playoff numbers in 27 games played are 6-9-15. Drafted by the B’s in the fourth round of the 2015 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Gabrielle possesses an uncanny knack for finding the net in the offensive zone. He’s a gritty winger who’s not afraid to get into those tough areas along the boards, but also has a tremendous offensive upside for a crafty highly skilled forward which was on display in the 2015-16 season where he had career highs posting 40-35-75 numbers.
Cats forward @JesseGabrielle has joined the @AHLBruins making him the 5th Cougar this week to make the jump.

Gabrielle signed a three-year entry-level deal with the Bruins organization in December of 2016 with this being his last year of WHL eligibility as he turns 20-years-old this June. In three regular season games last year with the Baby B’s team, Jesse went pointless but showed he can, in fact, skate at the AHL level but also showed he can be a pest having many like myself comparing him to current Bruins agitator Brad Marchand. With the addition of this skilled forward onto the Baby B’s squad, it’s going to be exciting to see in the next few weeks who else might join this team as they become available this spring or the start of next season.
A very heart felt THANK YOU to @cougsgmharks, everyone at the @PGCougars and the entire @CityofPG for the last 2 awesome years! pic.twitter.com/c5BNdMrsmF
