According to a Tweet, earlier today delivered from Bruins Beat Writer Mark Divver of the Providence Journal, forward Josh Hennessey could get a tryout agreement with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

The 32-year-old Brockton, Massachusetts native had an exceptional Canadian Junior career with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League after he was selected by the Canadian team with the 19th selection in the second round of the Priority Draft in 2001 after a solid season of High School Hockey at Milton Academy where he posted 50 points in just 28 games. His tremendous effort to be a better player and teammate to the Remparts organization didn’t come easy as a kid speaking English trying to develop his skills with a team in a community predominantly French Canadian dialect. In 269 career games in the QMJHL, he posted 291 points which were good enough for the San Jose Sharks who selected him in the second round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

He’s only appeared in 23 games in the NHL he’s played with the Boston Bruins ( 3 Games ) and Ottawa Senators ( 20 Games ) only scoring one career goal and six penalty minutes. The 6′-0″ 190-pound center has mostly spent his North American Profesional Career in the AHL  most recently ( 2011-12 ) with the Baby B’s when he appeared in 69 games contributing 19-22-41 numbers before heading to Europe to continue playing in leagues such as the Kontinental Hockey League, the Swiss Pro League, and the Swedish Hockey League where he played in 51 games for the Vaxjo Hockey Club earning 12 points in  the 2016-17 campaign.

This might be a great home coming for the long time Massachusetts native and presumed Bruins fan as he might look to add some skill and more leadership to a Providence club that’s going to make some significant upgrades to the NHL B’s prospect pool. As Mr, Divver explained this could be a Professional Tryout but also could be an idea for security purposes in case a young developing player(s) makes it on the Boston roster to start the NHL season. He also could be that replacement for the departing Peter Mueller who also came home from overseas last summer looking to catch on in North America.
