With the season winding down, the Bruins took to the road to face the Laval Rocket for the first time in Bell Place. Laval didn’t have too much to play for apart from pride with 12 games remaining, but that didn’t stop them from giving Providence a significant challenge in their playoff push.

First Period:
Both teams started the night with some early power plays but could not convert many shots towards the net. At the 11:02 mark of the period, Stuart Percy sent in a great shot for the blue line to give Providence a lead. It was Percy’s third goal of the season and his first as a member of the Bruins. For the rest of the period, Zane McIntyre was instrumental in keeping the lead intact as the Rocket outshot the Bruins 11-5.S

Second Period:
The second period began with a great chance from Gemel Smith that was denied in the low slot. Shortly after, Daniel Audette netted his 13th of the season for Laval by backhanding in a loose puck in the crease. Providence wouldn’t let the game stay tied for long. With Alex Alain in the box for holding, Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson sniped a shot through traffic to put the Bruins back on top. Cooper Zech also picked up his first career AHL point on the assist.

Score: 2-1 Bruins
Third Period:
The third period began on the man advantage for the Bruins, and throughout the period they had an abundance of close calls to pull away on the scoreboard. With just under five minutes to go in regulation, Cale Fleury netted a solid backhander to tie the game once again at two. The tally would send the game to overtime with both teams looking to get a critical extra point.
Score: 2-2
Overtime provided some great back and forth action, but only three combined shots registered on net forcing the game to be decided by the skills in a shootout. After an extended eight-round shootout, Hunter Shinkaruk finally ended the game in favor of Laval. The Bruins get a day off to travel and rest back home before they take on the Belleville Senators for the first time this month.
