The 2020-2021 NHL season is all up in the air right now. The league has been having extensive meetings to determine how the season will work amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic. With the worst spike that we have seen yet in the United States, who knows what will happen?

With all of that in mind, let’s have a little fun and make some bold predictions. Keep in mind, all these opinions and predictions are my own, and they are called “bold” for a reason. All of these predictions are under the assumption that a full 82-game season is played and that all players stay healthy. Let’s get into it.

Tuukka Rask Returns To Vezina Form

I am personally very optimistic with Tuukka Rask. I always have been. I never understood the narrative on social media that he isn’t “clutch” or is “bad”. I have always a big Tuukka supporter and will continue to be. If you look at his numbers, he proves year in and year out that he is a top goaltender in the NHL, and I think he deserves that respect. I fully expect Rask to reclaim his starting position and win the Bruins some key games next season and earn another Vezina Trophy nomination.

I’ll also just leave this here in case anyone really doesn’t believe that Tuukka Rask is a good goaltender.

Ondrej Kase Scores 25 Goals

I might be one of the few people in Bruins Nation who liked what they saw from Kase in the NHL Return to Play. While he didn’t score, and that is the whole reason he is here, he showed his speed and work ethic in the corners. He had many chances to score and played well alongside David Krejci, but the goals weren’t coming. It couldn’t have helped that he missed most of training camp along with David Pastrnak. Whether he plays with Krejci or Charlie Coyle this season, maybe even Patrice Bergeron to start with Pastrnak out, I expect him to finally light the lamp and produce for the Bruins.

Charlie McAvoy Puts Up 50 Points

Charie McAvoy is entering his fourth NHL regular season and in such a short time, he has solidified himself as one of the Bruins’ most reliable players. One area in his game that can improve is the offensive side of things. He only scored five goals in the regular season last year after having a massive goal drought. While the Bruins don’t rely on him to provide offensively, with Torey Krug leaving and having a much larger role this coming season, expect McAvoy to break his career high of 32 points.

Anders Bjork Scores 20 Goals

This is one of my bolder predictions here. I have always liked what Anders Bjork brings to the table. I find him in a similar situation like Kase. He has the speed and skill to play at this level, it is just that the goals aren’t going in for him. If Bjork can snag that third line spot alongside of Craig Smith and Charlie Coyle, he can be an offensive piece on that unit. Even Bruce Cassidy has said that they like his two-way game, but his offensive game hasn’t developed yet. He may even see some first-line time alongside Patrice Bergeron with Brad Marchand currently recovering.

Jake DeBrusk Scores 30 Goals

I personally Jake DeBrusk has some critics to silence. It is no secret that he has shown flashes of great potential, but he has been inconsistent over his brief NHL career so far. He has a career-high 27 goals in only 68 games in 2018-2019 and took a little step back last season. DeBrusk easily has 30-goal potential, he just has to piece it all together. After hopefully receiving a new contract soon, I expect DeBrusk to come out flying.
